Protected Pet List
Feline Pediatric (kittens up to six months of age)
In order for your healthy pet to be as protected as possible, we recommend this list of services that you may provide for your pet. We recommend these services so that your pet may enjoy the longest and fullest life possible. Other medical conditions may dictate variations in these recommendations.
Initial Examination Check for birth defects and normal development of organ systems, skin, teeth and gums.
Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Test The results of this screen may affect the treatments you choose to provide for your kitten.
Pediatric Blood Screen tests check organ functions and blood count values.
Check stool sample for intestinal parasites including hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, coccidia, and giardia.
Deworm as per recommendation of the Texas Department of Health
Flea & Tick Prevention Early attention can alleviate problems associated with flea infestation including the development of flea allergic dermatitis.
Feline Distemper Vaccination w/ Systemic Calici Kittens six weeks of age should be given one dose. One booster should be administered three to four weeks later to complete immunization. It is important that all boosters be administered according to schedule. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Vaccination Kittens nine weeks of age should be given one dose . Two boosters must be administered at 2-3 week intervals. It is important that all boosters be administered according to schedule. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended. All cats should be tested for FIV prior to vaccination.
Rabies Vaccination at three months of age. This vaccination is required by the Texas Department of Health.
Dental Care focuses on the correct replacement of baby teeth by adult teeth and their proper position.
Heartworm Prevention Begin monthly heartworm prevention.
Permanently Identify by implanting a microchip.
Neutering We recommend neutering all animals not intended for breeding purposes. Kittens may be neutered as early as four months of age.
Nutrition Kittens should consume high quality food that is formulated specifically for kittens. We recommend the nutrition provided by Hill's Science Diets & Prescription Diets.
Be certain that any over-the-counter products (shampoos, etc.) are labeled for use on kittens.
